Portland Zoo

Sarah finally got a day off, so we decided to go to the zoo and a have a family day.  It was a bit cold, but there was hardly anyone there so we had a awesome time.  The kids got to run and play and not have to worry about disrupting others around and also did not have to fight for glass time at the cages.  We want to give a big thank you to Aunt Suzanne for providing lunch for us.  We got waylaid at the exhibits and got to the cafe just after it closed.

After we finished up at the zoo we took the kids to the melting pot.  They had a god time cooking all of their food at the table and trying the cheese and chocolate.

Home from Vegas

Yesterday we got home from Las Vegas.  The conference was great.  We got to meet a lot of new people, and made some new friends. We also go to talk to several recruiters that we think will be good to work with when we set off on our trip.  The information learned was invaluable to our planning process. We are eagerly awaiting the day that we get to leave on our grand adventure.

Las Vegas

Yesterday Sarah and I arrived in Las Vegas for our travel nurse conference.  We quickly realized that it was not a place that we wanted to visit for a family vacation. The ways of the world are very blatant and in your face (not something I want my kids exposed to).  On the plus side the city is beautiful with all of the casinos lit up at night.

Last night was a reception for all of the nurses and the recruiters. We were able to make some good contacts and are looking forward to learning more valuable information as we plan for our big trip.

It was such a nice day we decided to walk to our hotel from the airport.

Fall Fun

So last week we took the kids to Bauman Farms.  They had a ton of fun going down zip lines, playing in the nut house, and going through the mazes.  Tonight we took the time to carve our pumpkins. The kids had good ideas and as always the best part is the fresh toasted pumpkin seeds.

Octoberfest

Yesterday we took the kids to Octoberfest.  Was a little nervous about it at first (was worried about all the beer gardens).  Since we were there earlier in the afternoon it was not that bad.  The kids had a wonderful time.  They got to hear some awsome music and try some yummy food.  The only downside was that we did not find the kids area till just before they closed. They only got to go on one bounce house. However it was a good way to spend the afternoon and we are looking forward to going again next year.

Last Day

Today I took the kids to the Marine Science Center in Newport Oregon.  They had a wonderful time learning about tsunamis and bio-luminescence.  Afterwards we went to the beach to let the kids play. They had a wonderful time in the sand and in the tide pools.  I was giving Caleb a hard time about not wanting to pick up the hermit crabs while his little sister Eve would reach right in and grab them.  All and all it was a fun day to get out and play before starting school again tomorrow.

School Starts

So the kids started CC (Classical Conversations) today.  That is the homeschool group that we are currently a part of. Which is nothing new, however Sarah decided to be a tutor this year.  That means she has her own class to teach one day a week and help the kids learn the course material that is taught through the group.  First day went great.  Hope that is a good sign for how the year is going to go.
